Chapter:
Tipton

Letter to the Members:
Hey, OKFFA! My name is Tyler Waugh, and I am serving as the 2021-2022 Southwest Area vice president. I am from Tipton, which is in the very southwest corner of Oklahoma. Growing up in a small town like Tipton, I had the opportunity to take on leadership roles in my school, church and community. During my time at Tipton High School I was involved in football, basketball, golf, student council and of course FFA.

In my freshman and sophomore year, I had the opportunity to be on a team that won the class C Football State Championship. This was such an incredible experience for me and my team. Playing football sparked my passion for being on a team and being surrounded by people with a common goal.

I had the opportunity to serve on the student council for six years and was involved in the Veteran’s Day assembly, canned food drive and our fall festival. Tipton will always have a special place in my heart. The people there are some of the best you will ever meet and have always been there to support me.

At home, I grew up as the youngest in a household of six. I have two brothers, Jacob and Zachary, and one sister, Lauren. Growing up as the youngest gave me three people that I could look up to and seek advice from. My parents were always my biggest help, always providing me with selfless care.

Growing up with three older siblings who were in FFA, I always knew that I wanted to wear the blue corduroy. I quickly became involved in all of the things that the FFA had to offer that interested me like Prepared Public Speaking, Oklahoma FFA State Chorus, Agricultural Sales and much more.

Perhaps the best opportunity that the FFA has provided me with was being able to attend the Washington Leadership Conference. I was able to meet many different FFA members from all over the country all while learning the importance of service and leadership.

I am thankful for the past five years spent in FFA and am ready for this next year serving the Oklahoma FFA Association. I am humbled and thankful that God has given me this opportunity to serve as the Southwest Area vice president.
