Chapter: Perkins-Tryon

Letter to the Members: My name is Jace Myers, and I am currently serving as your 2026-2027 Oklahoma FFA Central Area Vice President. I grew up in Perkins, a small town just south of Stillwater. I come from a pretty close knit family with two older brothers who have pushed me all my life, literally and physically, and two incredible parents who have believed in and supported me in every endeavor.

At a young age, I fell in love with sports. I have two older brothers, so as soon as I was born, it felt like I was always at a field or court of some kind. However, it was not until I started playing basketball that I found my passion for sports. That passion consumed almost all of my time until my junior year, when FFA really began to take over. I had two really good agricultural educators while I was at Perkins who would always sign me up for things.

Throughout my time in FFA, I competed in quite a few Career and Leadership Development Events, from Agricultural Mechanics, Speech Contest, Sporting Clays, and Greenhand Quiz to Livestock and Land Judging. My SAE was Turf Grass Management. I mowed lawns throughout my high school career and used it as my summer income.

One of my favorite memories as an FFA member was traveling to the National FFA Convention during my senior year. I have always loved road trips, so I was already excited before we even left. Along the way, our chapter made one of our traditional stops before heading on to Indianapolis. As we were getting back into the van, Mr. Brunkers' truck would not start, so he tried to fix it for nearly three hours. Unfortunately, we had no luck getting it started right away, but the delay turned into one of the most memorable parts of the trip. Looking back, it was not the breakdown that made the trip special, but the laughter, conversations, and memories we made together along the way.
