Northwest Area VP Cade Jenlink

My name is Cade Jenlink, and I am blessed to have the opportunity to serve as the 2019-20 Northwest Area vice president.

I was raised in the small, rural town of Jet, Oklahoma. I attended Timberlake Schools for 14 years and graduated with 15 in my class. I have a younger brother, Ethan; my dad, Jay; and my mom, Stephanie.

I grew up on a family farm where my family produces wheat, milo and beef cattle. Both of my grandfathers have been involved in the agricultural industry their whole lives. So naturally I followed suit. I began working for my dad’s father the summer after my third grade year, and now you can find me driving the combine, working ground and checking cattle.

Because I attended a small school, I had the opportunity to be highly active in multiple activities. I was involved in Fellowship of Christian Athletes, National Honor Society, Academic Bowl, baseball and football and was class president. One of the coolest parts about growing up in a small town is being around the same people from pre-K to high school.

I spent many hours in the cattle barn walking, washing, grooming and studying cattle. I got my first show heifer when I was 9 and continued to show throughout my high school career. Since joining FFA, I have been able to expand my cattle operation beyond the livestock show industry. My SAE cow/calf operation consisting of Angus, Simmental and Maintainer cows. I also have a stocker operation that I operate 50/50 with my mom’s father.

When I walked into the ag room for the first time as an eighth grader I thought I knew it all. I was going to exhibit my livestock, judge livestock and weld in the shop. I have been extremely fortunate to have an excellent agricultural education instructor, Mrs. Gaff, for all five years of my FFA experience. She definitely taught me I didn’t know quite as much as I thought I did as a little eighth grader.

Luckily, she introduced me to two of my favorite FFA activities, Alumni Leadership Camp and the Prepared Public Speaking LDE. I’ve become super passionate about both of these activities and have thoroughly enjoyed them as an FFA member.

In the fall I will attend Oklahoma State University, majoring in agricultural business. Go Pokes! After graduation, I hope to obtain a career within an agricultural organization or company that will allow me to lobby for agriculturalists at the state or national level.
